East Gwillimbury is at a pivotal moment. With our population growing rapidly, we need a vision for recreation that matches the pace and ambition of our community. The commitment to advancing a sports dome and lit artificial turf fields is especially important — for families, coaches, and athletes, this means reliable access to training and games regardless of weather. This pledge positions East Gwillimbury not just as a town that keeps up with growth, but as a regional leader in recreation, capable of hosting tournaments, attracting visitors, and supporting local businesses.

East Gwillimbury deserves a Council and a Mayor who are accountable to the people. As someone who has been turned away from Council meetings and told I am not allowed to share my perspective, I am proud to support Brian and his plan for a lobbyist registry, full council expense transparency, and his commitment to restoring public deputations.

As a proud local resident, member of the Jewish community, and mom of four, I value leadership that puts families, safety, schools, and seniors first. East Gwillimbury’s unique blend of rural charm and growing diversity deserves a leader who can honour that balance, and I believe Brian Johns does exactly that. Brian Johns is a leader who brings people together and celebrates diversity. I believe he can guide our community into its next chapter through partnership, respect, and collaboration.

Inclusion should not mean people of faith have to leave their beliefs at the door of public life. A truly inclusive community makes room for everyone — including those whose values are shaped by Christ. Recognizing Christian heritage and traditions does not exclude others; it reflects a community confident enough to welcome all voices.

Continuing my father's legacy with East Gwillimbury Minor Softball Association has always been important to me. As our community has grown, our softball infrastructure has struggled to keep pace. Brian was the first councillor to proactively reach out to our organization and ask what we needed — a level of engagement we hadn't experienced before. His commitment to listening, following through, and advocating for local sports has made a meaningful difference.

I had the opportunity to work with Brian during one of our playground fundraising campaigns. Brian was an enthusiastic supporter of our efforts. His support helped us move closer to our goal of building a new playground for our students and the local community. He was always willing to lend a hand personally, and also helped connect us with others in the community who shared his interest in creating opportunities for kids and families to play close to home.

As a third-generation resident, it is exciting to see the area grow; however, we must not lose sight of the importance of the surrounding farming community. We need a leader who is transparent about master planning and its impact on the Municipality’s overall budget, including the resulting tax rates for all residents. I am hopeful that, with Brian as Mayor, my daughter will be able to remain in the community as a fourth-generation resident. Our children should not have to move farther away to grow and raise their own families.
